Dry toilet at SOPUDEP School in Port au Prince

Our group was approached by the SOPUDEP school in Port au Prince to request a toilet for their school to serve the 600 children who attend and also to serve as a demonstration site for the capital. The school currently has one traditional latrine which is in poor condition and nearly full. When the Ministry of Education visited the school this past month they said that in order to maintain their status as a school they must build a new toilet within two months.

Because of the great necessity and our love and appreciation for the members of the SOPUDEP community we decided to help them to build a dry toilet at their school. In return they have agreed to help maintain and promote the demonstration toilet and to use the toilet as an educational tool within their environmental and hygiene curriculum.

This project was funded entirely by individual donations. We thank our friends for helping to make this toilet a reality.
