ESW is a national nonprofit organization with a network of professionals and students working to reduce poverty and improve global sustainability. ESW-Stanford is a consortium of undergraduate and graduate students interested in applying engineering skills to address the challenges of developing communities in sustainable and culturally-sensitive ways.

 

H.O.P.E. (Haiti Outreach Pwoje Lespwa) is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization based in Rochester, New York. Our sole purpose is to assist the people of Borgne, Haiti in achieving equitable, just and sustainable living conditions.

 

Partners In Health (PIH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with a presence in Latin America, the Caribbean, Russia, and the United States. We coordinate innovative programs to combat AIDS and women's health problems in rural Haiti and urban Massachusetts, groundbreaking tuberculosis treatment projects in the prisons of Siberia and the shantytowns of Lima, and health policy initiatives on a global scale.

 

The Hesperian Foundation is a non-profit publisher of books and educational materials that help people take the lead in their own health care and organize to improve health conditions in their communities.

 

Unite for Dignity is an immigrant workers' rights organization dedicated to building new leaders to fight for improved conditions in workplaces and in immigrant communities in South Florida, creating positive change in issues confronting immigrant workers, their families and communities, such as healthcare and immigrant rights.

 

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Palo Alto Rotary is composed of roughly 150 professional and retired community leaders, both men and women, who live and work in Palo Altoand are interested in giving back to the local and global community. 

 

The Aquamor Ltd. website is set up to describe the work of Peter Morgan who has been working in the rural water supply and sanitation sector for 25 Years. This work has been undertaken completely in Zimbabwe. Some of the Technologies have been used in several other African  and developing countries.

 

Agroecology in Action is a website that describes the scientific discipline that uses ecological theory to study, design, manage and evaluate agricultural systems that are productive but also resource conserving.

 

Project Medishare for Haiti, Inc. is an organization dedicated to improving the health of the Haitian people by re-establishing the health infrastructure in several communities and facilities throughout Haiti. We accomplish this mission in several ways:

- A continuing commitment to rural communities by establishing and funding sustainable programs;

- Training of Haitian physicians, nurses and allied health professionals

- Providing technology, supplies and equipment to our clinic in Thomonde and other affiliated programs throughout Haiti.

 

Sarar Tansformacion is a multi-disciplinary consulting group that focuses on water conservation and ecological sanitation (ecosan) in Tepoztlan Mexico.

 

Center For the Study of the Americas (CENSA)

Founded in 1981, the Center for the Study of the Americas (CENSA) is a nonprofit organization based in Berkeley, California working on global alternatives. In the late 1990's, CENSA became active in the anti-globalization movement, publishing in 1997 "Globalization and Its Discontents: The Rise of Postmodern Socialisms." The Battle of Seattle in late 1999 marked a turning point for CENSA, as more and more of our activities became focused on a critique of corporate dominated globalization and the search for alternatives rooted in popular movements and the quest for more just and egalitarian societies.

 

EcoSanRes (ecological sanitation research) is an international environment and development programme on ecological sanitation. It has its roots in the pioneering SanRes programme which ran from 1993 to 2002. Sponsored by Sida, managed by Stockholm Environment Institute with a world network of 20 organisations.

 

The Ecology Center is an organization located in Berkeley, CA that promotes environmentally and socially responsible practices through programs that educate, demonstrate, and provide direct services.

 

ESW Berkeley is an organization at UC Berkeley interested in engineering issues surrounding appropriate technologies in development. To that end, ESW Berkeley has three primary goals:
  • Provide a forum for students, faculty, professionals and community members both here and internationally to learn about and critically evaluate sustainable and appropriate engineering solutions.
  • Coordinate collaborations between volunteers from all disciplines and underserved communities to address technical problems using a sustainable, multi-disciplinary approach that takes into consideration local need, resources, and culture and emphasizes long-term partnership between EWF-Berkeley and local communities.
  • Promote awareness of worldwide development issues in the UC Berkeley campus community and facilitate research on issues relevant to the engineering needs of underserved populations.
