What is a Technology Center?

Technology Centers are decentralized meeting places that empower people to engage in creative problem solving. They work to develop, investigate, promote, and evaluate simple technologies for improving health, protecting the environment, and encouraging economic independence.

Each center develops its own programs organically based on community priorities and the skills and interests of its staff and volunteers, but they work together to share ideas, experiences, and data. They also provide links to international organizations, funding opportunities, and partnerships with university students from around the world.

The vision of the Technology Center is to create a local space for sharing ideas and hope, for uniting people educated in universities with those educated by the land, and to encourage the use of everyone’s creativity for solving the health, environmental, and economic problems that afflict local communities as well as all of humankind.

How You Can Help!

Provide power to a Technology Center by donating solar panels or funds to purchase them. We need $1,500 to provide 300-400 Watts of solar power (with batteries, charge controllers, and inverters) to each of our centers. Such a solar array would be sufficient to provide power for a UV water treatment system open to the public, a computer with internet, and simple lighting. Click here for more details.

Provide communication and educational resources by helping us install internet access in the technology centers.  For and a monthly fee of we can provide internet access for one center to use for communications with international partners, research on new technologies, and ease of financial and project report backs to donors.
