A Big SOIL Thank You!

From everyone at SOIL, we want to offer our sincerest thanks to all who donated to our September Open Challenge campaign through Global Giving. With your help, we far surpassed our goal of raising $4,000 from 50 unique donors by the end of September. At midnight last night, we had raised $8,370 from 103 incredibly generous donors!

These funds will go directly to maintaining our emergency sanitation program, keeping SOIL public toilets throughout Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien open and functioning properly. We believe that our public toilet program is vitally important, especially as public toilets and emergency sanitation programs continue to shut their doors and withdraw their services.

Madame Bwa, a longtime community activist and friend of SOIL, sums up our motivation perfectly:

“Nou vle bél jaden lakay. SOIL fé bel aktivite nan tout nan domen sanitasyon di ede moun viv an yon santé ki pi bon. Nou di SOIL mesi pou sa e nou ta renmen li kontinye fé bel bagay, yo toujou nan kominote yo.”

(We want beautiful gardens, and are grateful that SOIL works in the sanitation sector to help us have healthy lives. We give thanks to SOIL for the wonderful work, that it may continue, as we will still be here.)

Again, we want to thank everyone for continuing to support our efforts and standing with us as we work to provide safe and dignified sanitation for the people of Haiti.
