A Farewell Bash (and an Intra-SOIL Soccer Match, too!)
On Saturday the SOIL teams from both Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien gathered to celebrate the tenure of our favorite Deputy Director Nick Preneta, who will be leaving in February. Although we’re sorry to see Nick go, he will always be a part of the SOIL family, and we hope he’ll continue to share his next adventures with us. In true SOIL fashion, Nick’s sendoff party was a real event, including a long-anticipated soccer match pitting SOIL Port-au-Prince versus SOIL Cap-Haitien. Although the Port-au-Prince team was ultimately victorious, the day was a win for everyone because the whole team could come together to recognize the amazing spirit and dedication that Nick has brought to SOIL over the past years. After the game Sasha and I formed “Ekip Hot Dog” (Team Hot Dog) and grilled up a hot dog feast for the hungry players. The SOIL family celebrated into the night, sharing stories and laughing together over hot dogs and cookies. We’re happy to share some photos from the party with you, so that you can join in the fun, too!
