Meet SOIL North Haiti's newest employee! In Episode 29 of our Theo Talks video series, the North Haiti Regional Director, Theo Huitema, introduces SOIL fans to the protege of the ever-ruthless Rat Catcher. Theo hired Ti Tig (Little Tiger) to keep the mice out of the office... or at least to look adorable while playing with office supplies. Sadly, Ti Tig's work ethic leaves a bit something to be desired, but maybe it's because he's paid in kibble?
In Episode 28, SOIL's indefatigable North Haiti Regional Director, Theo Huitema, takes us to Milot, a small town outside of Cap-Haitien, for the Easter Festival. At the ruins of San Souci (a castle built in post-independence Haiti in the 1800s), thousands of pilgrims gather to celebrate the holiday - and to use SOIL's mobile toilets! As Theo enjoins us, "Let us pray for peace.... and let us pray for the SOIL toilets."
Here at SOIL, we love transforming waste of all kinds. Though poop is always a favorite, we're also working to promote composting of kitchen waste and vegetable scraps, which is easy for anyone to do at home.
