Samba for SOIL

In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, many dear friends reached out to SOIL about the best way to help, and we were so honored to see support pour in from all corners of the globe. Several of our friends even got creative in raising funds for hurricane relief - including our dear friend Berta from the Arco Iris Samba Band in Cambridge, England. The Arco Iris Samba band came together to play throughout Cambridge and raise funds for SOIL's hurricane relief effort. Check out a video of their performance and dance along if the mood strikes. Sincere thanks to the Arco Iris Samba ...

The SOIL team was thrilled to hear that a Chapman University improv comedy troupe called "Improv Inc" was inspired to raise funds in support of Hurricane Matthew relief work by making people laugh! SOIL Logo Crosses the Globe

As we shared a few months ago, SOIL friends and supporters Drew and Scott Gurian have spent the past twelve weeks accomplishing an impressive and unique feat: driving 11,000 miles through 19 countries in a tiny car. They were participating in an annual event called the Mongol Rally, and at SOIL we were honored to journey with them on the side of that very tiny car. The Gurian brothers were rallying not just for the adventure, but also to show their support for SOIL and fundraise along the way. Check out their podcast about why they chose to support SOIL, and listen to ...

Cross Country Cycle for SOIL- The Grand Finale!

On August 24 - just hours behind schedule - the now legendary Dr. John Kilbride rode the last leg of his journey accross the island of Manhattan and into Battery Park. Raising support for SOIL along the way, our favorite British physician pedaled his bike more than 4000 km, from the end of the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles to Battery Park New York City in just over one month's time! John battled wildfires (on day one in the Los Angeles hills), blazing desert heat (117 F in Barstow!), a road that was not a road (curses on Route 66!), pokey brambles popping his tires (who ...

Artists Benefit SOIL In Fight Against Climate Change

When it comes to climate change, we all can do our part to reduce our impact on global warming – from increasing our use of public transportation to reducing the amount of red meat we consume, we can each do something to contribute to a solution. This year, a group of fourteen artists decided to make a more unusual contribution: using their works of contemporary art to mobilize climate change action on a larger scale. For the first part of the project, the artists displayed huge works of art around Paris while the city hosted the Climate Change Conference (COP ...
