SOIL is seeking a Research Project Manager to provide support to for our research portfolio.
MAIN DUTIES
The Research Project Manager at SOIL will take the lead role in overseeing multiple research projects. The areas of study are multifaceted and may include WASH and public health, equity, agriculture, operations research, health economics and others. This dynamic role will require a candidate who can bring their knowledge and expertise while continuing to learn and adapt to the needs of the research environment. The Research Project Manager will engage with internal and external stakeholders in Cap Haitian, Haiti and abroad. This will require an ability to effectively communicate and engage different actors within the SOIL ecosystem and local community leaders and research partners. The Research Project Manager will be primarily responsible for managing research projects from start to finish and ensuring that projects are completed within the allocated time, budget and quality standards.
The key responsibilities of the Research Project Manager may include:
- Supporting the development and implementation of research projects: Planning and coordination of research projects, including participation in research proposal development, designing research studies and developing operational plans to execute research studies locally.
- Managing research projects: Oversee the day-to-day operations of research projects at our SOIL offices, including managing project timelines, ensuring that project objectives are met, and resolving any issues that arise during the project.
- Managing budgets: Develop and manage budgets for research projects, ensuring that expenses are within the allocated budget.
- Leading and supervising external research teams: Manage and supervise external research teams partnering with SOIL on research projects, ensure that team members are working efficiently, communicating effectively, and meeting project deadlines.
- Training internal and external research partners: Lead training sessions on research plans and procedures for all relevant research partners at multiple timepoints along the research study project.
- Analyzing and presenting research findings: Analyze research data and findings and present them in a clear and concise manner to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a social sciences field, public and/or community health, health sciences, or other related fields
- Experience coordinating and/or managing research projects
- Excellent project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage budgets, timelines, and work plans
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage a team effectively and facilitate communication among team members and stakeholders
- Knowledge of research methods and ethical guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Haitian Creole. Fluency in English and French is highly preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in using commonly used spreadsheets and databases such as Microsoft Office Suite, and mobile data collection apps and/or the ability to learn how to work with new tools
- Respect for others
- Passion for learning, development and desire to support work in vulnerable contexts.
