Showcasing Possibility at COP24

Earlier this month, SOIL was honored to receive the United Nations’ Momentum for Change Award in Planetary Health at COP24 in Katowice, Poland. Momentum for Change honors innovative and transformative solutions that address both climate change and wider economic, social and environmental challenges. Recognized as a Lighthouse Activity, SOIL’s work is honored for being a practical, scalable and replicable example of a groundbreaking intervention to tackle climate change.

It was a pleasure to participate in the COP24 event, and to have the chance to share space with all of the Momentum for Change award winners. In particular, the Planetary Health awardees got to know each other and learn about the span of our respective projects. To see SOIL in action and learn about the other initiatives recognized in the Planetary Health category, check out the Planetary Health Showcase event and this Facebook Live interview.

In the growing conversation around how to tackle climate change, the SOIL team is proud to represent a positive example of incorporating climate-positivity into basic service provision. It is our sincere hope that governments and global institutions can rally around the climate crisis and engage in the necessary work to change our global trajectory.

At SOIL, we’re more dedicated than ever before to mitigating the impacts of the growing climate crisis and growing resilience in the frontline communities we serve in Haiti. Click here to learn more and join us as we work to nurture a more just and resilient planet for each and every one of its inhabitants.
