SOIL 2013 Annual Report is Here!

Dear friends,

The 2013 Annual Report is here! We hope you enjoy this quick summary of what we’ve been up to lately. It’s an exciting time at the SOIL offices in Haiti these days: ecological sanitation (EcoSan) toilets built by SOIL and other organizations using SOIL’s designs are providing critical emergency sanitation services to thousands of people around the country, and SOIL’s social business pilot in Cap-Haitien continues to take off with more and more people signing up for household or communal toilet services – demonstrating a truly sustainable pathway to solving the sanitation crisis. And as always, the wastes collected are safely transformed into organic, agricultural-grade compost at SOIL’s award-winning EcoSan waste treatment facilities.

Girl in pink dressIn order to rebuild Haiti’s soil with the mountains of compost produced every month, SOIL continues to collaborate with reforestation and agricultural organizations and enterprises around the country, and agricultural interns from Haiti’s leading agronomy universities are getting hands-on experience at the SOIL research farm in northern Haiti testing SOIL’s compost vis-a-vis other soil amendments.

Thanks to your ongoing support, thousands of people across Haiti are living healthier, more dignified lives, planting trees, and growing more food. We truly could not do this work without the support of SOIL’s friends and family around the world. Thank you for allowing us to continue to dream big.

With love from Haiti,
SOIL
