Soil Nutrient Lab Test Results

With help from our friends at the Instituto Tecnológico San Ignacio de Loyola (ITESIL) in the Dominican Republic, we are now able to look at our farm’s soils in quantifiable terms nutrient-wise! We were even able to compare the soil results to a SOIL compost sample and found that organic matter, phosphorus, and potassium are all significantly higher in the compost. This illuminates the possibilities of how compost applications could help ameliorate nutrient deficiencies in Haitian soils. If you’re curious, take a look at the printout below. These results not only give us a better idea of our land conditions specific to the area, they are being used by our agricultural intern as part of his research project on the effects of compost and urine on crops.  Stay tuned for those results in the next few months!

Nutrient Analysis Results from SOIL Site: Samples #1 thru #5 show regular soil nutrient analysis results from our farm site, while Sample #6 shows compost nutrient analysis results
