SOIL’s First Ecosan Training of the Fall
Last Thursday SOIL was proud to host our first ecological sanitation training of the fall at our beautiful Port-au-Prince office. The majority of participants were Haitian but several other countries were represented including France, Ireland and Burkina Faso.
The event was attended by 16 budding Ecosan enthusiasts who spent the day debating topics ranging from toilet design to the social aspects of developing a market for humanure compost. We were so pleased to be able to host the event at our office where people had a chance to use a household ecosan toilet and wander through our garden grown from compost.
We hope to stay in touch with the individuals and groups who attended and to assist with their planned projects where possible. Given ongoing demand for this type of workshop we hope to be able to offer one every 2-3 months in the coming year, alternating between Haitian Creole and English sessions. Due to the diversity at last week’s seminar we had a completely bilingual day, which certainly kept us on our toes.

Every chair in the office was needed for the SOIL EcoSan training last week. Email [email protected] to reserve your spot in the next session!
