August Newsletter: SOIL Launches New Marketing Campaign as Emergency Measures are Lifted

Dear Friend, We hope you and your family are staying healthy as we continue to navigate these uncertain times. This month, we are happy to share some positive progress from SOIL’s EkoLakay team on the ground in Cap-Haitien. We have fully resumed operations after the emergency freeze on non-essential activities that was in place most of the spring and into summer. We have confidence in the safety changes we have put in place to address future operational risks associated with COVID-19, so that we can continue to provide our essential EkoLakay household sanitation services to existing and new families in the communities we serve. Viviane (third from the right) alongside other SOIL staff at our TiLari office in January during her first official monthly meeting with the team Following a decade plus of experience in sales and marketing, Viviane Thomas was in the midst of a short break from running her own business due to the political instability in Haiti when she decided to apply for a Senior Sales Manager position with SOIL. "What is EkoLakay? How can I have one?" neighbors asked. The EkoLakay team is an all-star group of salespeople and hygiene promoters, and it didn’t take them ...

The Sanitation Saleswoman

Algate Joseph has been part of the SOIL team since 2012. She originally had a 1-month trial contract, which turned into years of dedicated contribution to SOIL’s mission. Because of her positive energy, tireless commitment to community engagement and education, and increased responsibility in the EkoLakay program, SOIL Cap-Haitien honored Algate as the employee of the month in January 2016! I interviewed Algate to see what drives her to work so hard to improve sanitation in her community. She doesn’t say so in the interview, but she brought in a whopping 227 new EkoLakay household toilet clients in 2015. Be sure to watch the song she composed ...
