Towards a Greener 2019

Dear friends,

As we say goodbye to another year, it feels natural to think of the future and what it holds for us – our families, our friends, our planet. No matter who you are, no matter where you are, we share connections to each other and to the planet we are so fortunate to call home. I am so very proud to be working with partners and supporters from all corners of the globe who share a vision and a passion for creating solutions to the most intractable problems we face. In the coming years, I believe that we can build on the collaborative work we’ve done to build a global network of sanitation revolutionaries. Together we are advocating for a future that is green, that is inclusive, that is possible. What began as a spark of inspiration in a small town in Haiti has grown into a global movement for change, rooted in the power and vitality of the soil.

As I reflect on the past year of work in Haiti, what strikes me most is the impact of individuals. Whether it’s SOIL team members showing up during nationwide protests or severe local flooding to ensure our award-winning sanitation service continues uninterrupted; our EkoLakay customers investing in the health of their families and their communities month after month; or each of you ensuring we are able to continue this work creating a new climate-positive future for sanitation, we are each a powerful part of the interconnected whole. It fills me with hope and renews my resolve to know how many individuals around the world are standing with us, and how many believe as we believe in the necessity of holistic solutions that put people and planet first. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, and we are not waiting. The future is in our hands, and we are taking bold action to make sure that future is not just possible, but beautiful. Thank you for supporting SOIL, and for believing in our collective power to achieve change.

The happiest and healthiest of New Years to you and yours.

With love from Haiti,
Sasha
