Teamwork, Toilets, and a Greener Future: SOIL's Ongoing Partnership with World Centric

At a time when communities seem divided and individuals more disunited than ever before, we are grateful for the meaningful partnerships we have cultivated over our almost two decades of work in Haiti. World Centric, our eco-conscious B Corporation partner that provides compostable packaging to the food service industry, has been walking the sustainability path with us since 2016. World Centric gives a minimum of 25% of their profits to grassroots community organizations working at the intersection of extreme poverty and climate change, an impactful fit for SOIL’s sustainable sanitation solutions.
World Centric
World Centric has been a critical partner in supporting SOIL’s EkoLakay social enterprise for the past eight years by funding toilet construction for the communities we serve, helping us maintain our composting bins for our transformative waste treatment facility, and supporting research around using compostable bags to line our containers. In addition to operational support, World Centric has been SOIL’s partner on Giving Tuesday for the past several years, generously matching all donations made on that important fundraising day.
Recently Janae Lloyd, World Centric’s Director of Impact, and Sasha Kramer, SOIL’s Co-Founder and Executive Director, met up to chat about and plan this year’s Giving Tuesday partnership. This year, World Centric will be matching all donations made to SOIL between November 26 - December 4 up to $20,000.
World Centric’s stated mission is to be of service to people and the planet and we’re big fans of their global grassroots efforts. World Centric understands that people experiencing extreme poverty often live in the places most impacted by climate change and are more vulnerable to natural disasters. Their funding model integrates climate solutions with socioeconomic development and is a powerful way to alleviate some of the hardship that both impoverished people and our fragile planet are subject to.
In addition to financial support, World Centric is an important advocate for the global sanitation crisis and other environmental causes - raising awareness for global efforts to improve livelihood opportunities, education, health and more sustainable services for the world’s most vulnerable populations. Together we’re working to provide access to regenerative sanitation in Haiti and create a more sustainable global society that prioritizes the wellbeing of people and the planet. We are grateful to work with such an impactful organization that is using its business as a force for good. Our deepest thanks to the World Centric for its commitment to sustainability, equity, and sanitation. We look forward to creating more impact together in the years to come.
