SOIL donated wheelbarrows, rakes, and shovels to support the city-wide clean-up effort.

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, a city-wide clean-up effort was organized by the municipality of Cap-Haïtien along the boulevard. To support the initiative, SOIL donated four wheelbarrows, four rakes, and four shovels to community members participating in the event.

The clean-up was held as part of Samdi Sitwayen (“Citizen Saturday”), a community initiative started in 2025 that encourages residents to take collective action to care for and protect their neighborhoods. Activities included cleaning streets and public spaces, planting and watering trees, beautifying neighborhoods, and organizing community outreach campaigns that boasted environmental stewardship and neighborhood pride.

To coordinate efforts effectively, the city was divided into different zones and a clean-up map was created to ensure broad participation across Cap-Haïtien. Residents from targeted neighborhoods were encouraged to join the effort and contribute to the shared care of their communities. SOIL is proud to support initiatives like Samdi Sitwayen that foster connection between residents and their environment!
