A Visit with Cap-Haïtien's Newly Appointed Mayor

Last month, Sasha met with Cap-Haïtien's newly appointed Majistra (Mayor) Saint-Croix — who has reinstated several important city ordinances and brought an air of “get-it-done” energy to the city.
People know Majistra Saint-Croix as someone who makes it clear that there are no exceptions for not abiding by city code. As we drove into the office, we passed by the mayor’s office and saw the raising of the flag, with nearby traffic stopped and several civil protection officers saluting the Haitian emblem of national pride. Everyone remarked that it was nice to see a raising of the flag, something that has not happened routinely for several years.
Majistra Saint-Croix is currently working with our team to get the EkoMache market toilets back up and running. As a gesture of support to the merchants who lost much of their stock in the January fire that tore through the market, we'll be relaunching those toilets free of charge to users.
Additionally, we've worked closely with the mayor's office throughout the years to secure permissions for our three-wheelers and motos to be able to operate the EkoLakay service around town. Though Majistra Saint-Croix is intent on prohibiting tuk-tuks and similar vehicles in certain areas to tighten up on traffic zoning, he deems EkoLakay as an essential service and is in full support of our operations.
